Services We Offer: Recreation & Youth Services
The Recreation and Teen Clubs offer a wide variety of recreational activities for adults and teens that live at home with their families. We are a member-driven club that prides ourselves in coordinating a dynamic social calendar with events that nurture friendships. Our calendar has included delightful activities such as putting on plays, visiting New York City, attending live theater and enjoying the outdoors. Club members may also choose to participate in Special Olympic events through the Recreation Club.

RECREATION AND TEEN CLUBS LEARN TO SPEAK IN CHINESE
Recreation and Teen Club Members Benefit from Themed Activity Calendar
Recently Dutchess ARC's Recreation and Teen Clubs gathered to learn to speak the Chinese language at the agency's LaGrange Vocational Center. The groups learned to speak Mandarin, a dialect of the Chinese language that serves as a basis for the modern standard Chinese language. Commonly used phrases and words were learned and participants were thrilled to converse in another language. They also learned to count, watched an educational video that toured the different areas of China and were introduced to the names of different Chinese meals.

The Recreation and Teen Clubs monthly activity calendar was themed, featuring an outing to the local Chinese buffet, learning to prepare Chinese cuisine, and a Chinese New Year celebration - in addition to the traditional activities and outings planned on a monthly basis.
The Dutchess ARC Day Services department oversees the agency's Recreation and Teen Clubs. This provides a wide variety of recreation adn social activities for adults and teens still living with their families. The clubs are involved in sporting events through the Hudson Valley chapter of New York Special Olympics, and friendships are nurtured through recreational outings in the county. Seasonal celebrations are hosted and volunteer opportunities are coordinated in order to ensure a positive impact is had on the Dutchess County community.
